Knot Privacy Policy

Knot is designed to work locally on your Mac. Knot does not require an account, does not include advertising or analytics, and does not sell or share personal information.

Data processed on your Mac

Knot may process the following data only to provide features you choose to use:

• Application names and local file metadata for search results.
• Clipboard text and images for clipboard history.
• Screen content when you start a screenshot or OCR command.
• Window titles and positions when you use window-management commands.
• Quicklinks, shortcuts, preferences, and feature settings.

Clipboard history is encrypted on your Mac. Its encryption key is stored in the macOS Keychain. Screenshot OCR uses Apple's on-device Vision framework. Knot does not upload clipboard contents, screenshots, recognized text, files, or search queries to baomi.app or any third party.

System permissions

Knot requests permissions only when a feature requires them:

• Accessibility is used to move and resize application windows and to paste a selected clipboard-history item into the previously active application.
• Screen Recording is used when you start a screenshot or OCR command.
• Launch at Login is enabled only if you turn it on in settings.

You can revoke these permissions at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security.

Storage and deletion

Settings, Quicklinks, usage ranking, capture metadata, and encrypted clipboard history are stored locally in your user account. You can clear history from Knot and remove all remaining local data by deleting the app's container and preferences from your Mac.

Network access

Knot opens URLs when you run a Quicklink. The destination website receives the request under that website's own privacy policy. Knot itself does not operate a data-collection service.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version and date will be published on baomi.app and in the Knot repository.
